Psychedelic Records: Far out stuff, man.

The psychedelic rock era hit the US hard in the late 60s. The kids were tuning in and dropping acid, while listening to far extending guitar solos and advanced "risk taking" sounds.

The major record labels took note of this large countermovement, and put out a lot of psychedelic bands in the late 60s all the way to the early 70s.

Some of the bigger names, like The 13th Floor Elevators are still some of the most sought after psych records from this time period. Almost every area of the country had their own psych groups, and thus tons of small pressings appeared.

These records generally look similar to each other: long haired dudes, trippy colors, and far out names.
